Infiintat in 1998 de catre Facultatea de Litere a Universitatii din Bucuresti in cooperare cu Fundatia “Cukier Goldstein Goren” din Israel, care ii finanteaza activitatile pe baza anuala, Centrul de Studii Ebraice “Goldstein Goren” face parte din reteaua celor cinci Centre academice de excelenta care poarta acest nume, celelalte patru fiind la New York University, Universita degli Studi di Milano, Tel Aviv University si Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheva.

Centrul ofera urmatoarele programe academice si directii de cercetare in cooperare cu Facultatea de Litere:

  • Program de master in cultura si civilizatia ebraica
  • Module didactice coordonate de profesori invitati din tara si din strainatate
  • Programe de cercetare in domeniul istoriei, filosofiei, religiei, civilizatiei si artei iudaice
  • Cursuri de instruire recunoscute de Ministerul Educatiei si Cercetarii pentru profesori de istorie de scoala si liceu in domeniul educatiei privind Holocaustul, in cooperare cu Institutul Yad Vashem din Israel, Muzeul Memorial al Holocaustului din Washington, Fundatia pentru Istorie Vizuala din Los Angeles, Memorial de la Shoah Paris, etc.
  • Conferinte, seminarii, ateliere de lucru
  • Facilitati si burse de studiu si cercetare pentru studenti si cercetatori
  • Resurse academice – biblioteca, baze de date
  • Publicarea unor lucrari de cercetare
  • Publicarea revistei anuale Studia Hebraica, a unor carti scrise de autori evrei si a unor lucrari despre personalitati sau probleme evreiesti
  • Asistenta pentru programe de doctorat in domeniul literaturii si al filosofiei.

Centrul are o biblioteca, ce pune la dispozitia studentilor lucrari stiintifice si literare in mai multe limbi.

Set up in 1998 by the Faculty of Letters of the University of Bucharest in cooperation with the “Cukier Goldstein Goren” Foundation of Israel, which is sponsoring its activities on a yearly basis, The “Goldstein Goren” Center for Hebrew Studies is one of the five academic Centers of Jewish Studies bearing the name of the Jewish philanthropist Avram Goldstein Goren, the other four being hosted by New York University, Universita degli Studi di Milano, Tel Aviv University and Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheva.

The Center offers the following academic programs and research lines, in cooperation with the Faculty of Letters:

  • MA program in Hebrew Culture and Civilization
  • Academic modules coordinated by visiting professors from Romania and from abroad
  • Research programs in Jewish history, philosophy, religion, civilization and arts
  • Training sessions in Holocaust education for history teachers recognized by the Ministry of Education and Research, in cooperation with Yad Vashem, Israel, the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, Washington, USC Visual Memory Foundation, Los Angeles, Memorial de la Shoah, Paris, etc.
  • Conferences, seminars, workshops
  • Study and research facilities and scholarships for students and researchers
  • Academic resources – library and data bases
  • Publication of research works
  • Publication of the yearly journal Studia Hebraica, books written by Jewish authors and volumes about Jewish issues or personalities
  • Assistance for PhD programs in the field of literature and philosophy.

The Center has a library which makes available to students scholarly and literary works in several languages.
